William "Bill" Gary

Thank you Carol for your card telling us of the passing of your father, Bill.
John has talked about him many times over the passing years. Says he was a great guy and a wonderful friend.

We were saddened to hear from Carol that Bill had passed away. Don remembers very fondly the Red Cliff days. Bill sharpened a hunting knife for Don in 1957 so well that Don has never used it....it is his treasure from Bill. He and Don were fishing and hunting buddies and stories and pictures are "brought out" frrequently. Their friendship will be remembered always.Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I was saddened to hear today of Bill's death. I remember him and Becky well from my time as their pastor. Bill was a valued church member and had a ready smile whenever I saw him. I am sure he will be missed by his church family. My prayers are with his friends and loved ones.

I was very sorry to read of your dad's passing in the Marshalltown newspaper. I did not realize the was ill. Cancer is a terrible disease, and I know it has been very difficult for you to lose both of your parent to it. My wife, Mary Lou, was ill with brain cancer for 2 1/2 years, and passed away in 1982, so I am somewhat fasmiliar with that a cruel disease it is.

You may not recall our family, but my wife and your mom taught at LeGrand and lived in the same teacher's apartment there during the 1956-57 school year. They were good friends and your family and ours would visit each other quite often over the following years - many times for Sunday dinner.

I just wanted to express my condolences to you. Your parents were wonderful people, and I have, and will continue to miss them.

Bill and Carol, I want to extend to you two my deepest sympathy in the loss of your father. It is hard when I hear someone from the old neighbor passes away, but then that is life. He will, along with your mom, always be close to you in your hearts.
